Agape Love

I thought I knew love until I opened my heart and my mind to the love of God. Agape love, the all-encompassing love that all humans crave, but few fully experience. The hearts of human beings are created by the One who can change everything, and all we have to do is let Him in. It seems so simple, yet becomes so complicated as human beings tend to over-analyze the promises of Scripture. God wants us, Jesus died for us, and the Holy Spirit guides us. The Bible is a love letter from God to His children and all we need to know about life and how to live it is contained between the covers. The verses shared are just some of the promises we can all receive when we hurt, mourn, fear, desire, and so on. God is. Blessings flow. Love does.

God is protection…

I thought I knew love until the darkness of the world consumed my childhood innocence.

Matthew 19:14 “Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”

God is a husband to the widow…

I thought I knew love until I experienced the death of my first husband.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

God is a gift giver…

I thought I knew love until someone asked me a simple question.

Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

God is a healer of hearts and minds…

I thought I knew love until my siblings stopped talking to one another.

Matthew 5: 23-24 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

God is a safe place…

I thought I knew love until my beloved brother-in-love died unexpectedly.

Psalm 91 “ Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

God is a friend…

I thought I knew love until my best friend and I simply weren’t.

Philippians 4:1 “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!”

God is a father to the fatherless…

I thought I knew love until my Daddy died. And found his healing in eternal life!

John 5:6 “When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

Lift your hands in surrender, make your requests known unto the Lord, and give your troubles to Him. He is always waiting with open arms and His mercies are new every morning. Cast your cares upon Him and turn your face into the Sonlight, there is nothing He can’t do.
