As the pages of the calendar have recently turned and the Earth has taken another trip around the sun, I am honored to be writing the first Beyond the Pulpit blog for 2026. I’ve had many themes cross my mind as I prepared to write whatever God led me to, and every theme pointed me straight back to our Lord and Savior and getting back to the basics of life.
Read MoreRecently, I was working on the lighting system that powers the stage lights at the church and God revealed something to me that was profound . . . I feel like this software somehow taught me some important lessons on God's will for us.
Read MoreAbout a month ago I had a dream and all I heard was the word “Moriah.”
I woke up the next morning and was going about my morning routine when I remembered that word.
I knew in my spirit that this word came from God because anything from him resurfaces in my spirit repeatedly until I pay attention. Sound familiar?
Read MoreThe biblical meaning of tapestry is a metaphor for the intricate and beautiful pattern of God’s plan in life. The concept of weaving reminds me of the powerful symbol of skill, beauty, and divine purpose.
Read MoreSometimes working in a field where people have faced overdoses, incarceration, poverty, abuse, and trauma, I can be tempted to think of my testimony as very “vanilla”. It can feel like it somehow lacks drama or a story line that rivals a Hollywood movie. Sometimes I can get so caught up in the trap that is comparison, that I think my story lacks a certain level of “spice”.
Read MoreHave you ever felt like you were (or are) standing on the edge of the abyss, looking down and not seeing the bottom? Maybe you’ve stood on the shoreline, looking out over the vastness of the sea and simply felt small. Or maybe you’ve simply felt like you’ve been invisible. Why is it so hard for us to understand what the Scriptures plainly tell us?
Read MoreIt’s 2:11 a.m. and you’re tossing and turning. Your mind is running full speed through unfinished tasks, to-do lists, difficult conversations, unpaid bills, and that thing you said that you should have said differently. Your body is bone tired, but your brain goes into overdrive the moment you get under the blankets, and the lights go out.
I’ve been there too, and it’s in those sleepless nights that Psalm 4 has become my go to . . .
Read MoreFor as long as I can remember, I measured myself against everyone else. Growing up, I compared my looks to those of my friends and siblings, chasing the airbrushed standards I saw in magazines. Later, it was careers, achievements, and milestones. No matter what I accomplished—completing military basic training, building a career, getting married, becoming a parent—the voice in my head kept whispering: not enough.

I had a different topic for this blog but after the tragedies that unfolded last week in our country a shift came upon my spirit.

Read MoreI am a mom who is simply doing my best and letting God take the rest. I have an about to be three year old, a one year old, and I am due with our third baby girl in November. I remember hearing from people at the beginning of our faith journey a few years ago “you need a prayer closet”. When I brought this up to my husband, we were both so fresh in our faith it didn’t make sense why we needed somewhere private with the Lord. When we got to digging, we found Matthew 6: 5-6 . . .
Read MoreRecently, I felt the Lord place a message on my heart for the ladies that was meant to speak to them about how to navigate community living. While living in a shelter is certainly a different experience than most of us are facing, when we are believers, we are part of a unique community. We not only have to navigate life amongst our brothers and sisters in Christ, but we also must learn what it means to be in the world, but not of it.
Read MoreIf you’ve ever seen a piece of finely embroidered work, a tapestry, that has been lovingly hand stitched, you’ve got an idea of the sense of awe that God showered me with recently.

Read MoreWhen I was growing up, my family had a restaurant called The Daily Bread Café & Bakery. My grandma was influential in coming up with the name, and I remember there being a plaque on the wall with the Lord’s Prayer on it. I always knew where she got the idea for the name, but I didn’t realize how important that daily “bread” would someday be in my life.
Read MoreWhat if I told you there is a ministry opportunity with unending opportunities? There are no age limits to who can be a part of the team. No auditions or technical skills to learn because you are already equipped for it.
Read MoreLife is represented as a circle because it is a constant loop. I find myself smack dab in the middle of this timeline. When I look back to when my children were born to fast forward now, the intentional care of my aging parents, I am reminded that life is fleeting and but a vapor in our lifetime.
Read MoreHave you ever had a moment that changed your entire direction in life? God often meets us unexpectedly and changes the trajectory of our lives just like Saul on the road to Damascus.
Read MoreOver the last eight years at Champion, our family has seen so many lives changed, and it never gets old. Every Sunday, I am so captivated by the endless testimonies that pour through the church doors. I can’t get enough of these testimonies.
Read More“If you don’t teach the next generation, how will they ever know?” - Unknown.
I repeat this phrase to myself often. As a mom to two little girls, I am constantly striving to teach them everything that I can.
