Grace Over Good Works

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”  —Ephesians 2:8-9,

How amazing is our Lord Jesus who freely laid down his life for us. I pray this post encourages you to keep walking strong with the Lord no matter what circumstances you may face today. God is with you and for you and will never leave you. He is your Lord, your God, and your very best friend. I want to simply remind you today that you are not saved by the good works you do for God, nor does God look at you differently because of your works. God looks at you with love and pleasure because you are His child. You don’t have to earn or strive or work to earn his pleasure for your life. All that he commands us to do is believe in His one and only Son, turn from our sinful actions, and through faith we are made right before Him.

Remember what the Father told Jesus at His baptism, “ You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11). Jesus hadn’t begun his ministry or did any mighty miracles prior to the Father saying this. You are His beloved child and well pleasing in his sight. May this revelation set you free and set you on a path of never ending love for Him and his people. Ephesians 2:10 brings home the point so beautifully; “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” We do good works because we have been saved by Christ not to earn his pleasure or get to heaven.

May God’s love fill your heart and may you walk in the good works that He’s prepared for you beforehand.
