Love Is Already Yours!
February is “Love Month” it’s filled with all things red and pink, the stores are stocked with flowers and chocolates.
It’s a month to celebrate love in all forms; romantic love, friendships, and family.
Love is a gift from God and should absolutely be celebrated.
But have you ever stopped and just received love? Not human love, but God’s love.
God’s love is the only unconditional love available to us.
Human love is amazing, but it has conditions.
God’s love has no end.
God’s love doesn’t depend on how well we are doing.
God’s love doesn’t fluctuate with moods or misunderstandings or the ever-changing seasons of life.
Romans’s 8:38-39 reminds us that nothing, not height or depth, not present or future, not anything in all creation can separate us from the Love of God that is found in Christ Jesus.
That is hard to fathom, isn’t it? That’s why we have the Word to remind us!
Ephesians 3: 18-19“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
The world teaches us that we must earn everything we have, even human love.
We are always striving:
To be better
To be chosen
To be noticed
To be enough
But God’s love is not earned it is available for all to simply receive but we must open our hearts and minds to it.
God’s love doesn’t compete with human love it completes it.
Human love is the sweetest when it no longer carries the weight of being the foundation only God’s love can be.
When we truly receive the unconditional love of God:
We live more freely.
We forgive each other more quickly.
We celebrate with others without comparison.
We enter relationships with fullness instead of a place of void which sets that relationship up for failure from the start.
The greatest love story is not the one you are already in nor the one you are waiting for; it is the one you have always been invited to.
His love is here, it is steady and it is yours.
Maybe this is the first time you ever heard that God’s love is unconditional and free for the taking, or perhaps you got distracted and need to go back to the source of love, I encourage you to take a few minutes this week and simply sit with the Lord.
Open your Bible to Romans 8 or Ephesians 3, take in the words and claim or reclaim the love of God that is in constant pursuit of your heart!
