Magnify

Do you remember being a little kid and believing your parents could do anything? You asked them for whatever you needed because you believed they had unlimited resources. You asked them to help you when you were scared because you believed that they could protect you and care for you.

It’s the same way with God! The more we know who He is, the more likely we are to ask Him to meet our needs and talk to Him about what is going on in our lives.

One fun thing about being a dad is doing things for your kids. My kids will ask me to do anything because they believe that I have the power to do it. Sometimes it’s even beyond something I can actually do, like produce dessert out of thin air or lift a car.

Unlike us, God is only limited by His Word! Still, people can get a limited view of God. They get caught thinking about their circumstances or the prayers they feel like he did not answer in the past. This causes them to withdraw from God and start to think about what is going wrong in their lives.

Whatever you meditate on will grow in your life. For example, if you look at your bank account and see lack, you’ll start to act as though you have lack.

The Bible says, “Oh magnify the Lord with me! Let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:3).

When we talk about magnifying, we’re talking about a change in perspective. For example, when you use a telescope to view the moon, you’re not making the moon bigger. The moon is huge! Instead, you are changing the way you view it so that you can see it in greater detail and have a greater appreciation for it.

We tend to focus on what we can see in front of us. We see reports about the economy on the news, so we start to focus on our bank accounts, savings, bills, etc. Soon, those things start to take over our minds and kill our faith.

Instead, we need to focus our hearts and minds on God. Even though we can’t see him physically, we can see the evidence that He is who He says He is. We can see what the Word says about Him and meditate on that.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

Praise focuses your heart on God. Compared to God, your problems, worries, and even unbelief begin to feel small. If God is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31)

You can magnify your problem, or you can magnify God! The choice is yours.

God is greater than any problem you are facing today. If your faith needs a boost, start praising God! Think about His amazing attributes. He is our creator, the righteous king of kings, an all-powerful healer! In Him, we have the victory!
