Sow the Word

Have you ever wondered how you can see God show up in your life like he did for the people in the Bible?

“So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell on them. The Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel.” Joshua 11:7-8

“Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” Act 2:2

These miraculous events may seem like they were random or sovereign acts of God, but every “suddenly” in scripture can be traced to something in the spirit, whether it was a seed or a process.

If we are going to see the same kind of “suddenly” or breakthrough as a lifestyle, we have to engage the same process.

Every person in the Bible who saw a breakthrough sowed a seed. Jesus described it like this:

“The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.” Mark 4:26-28

In this parable, Jesus reveals that the way the crops grow is a mystery, but the farmer’s role in it is to plant the seed.

God calls us to plant a garden of the kingdom on the inside of us and sow into that in order to see supernatural things happen. If you want to see breakthrough in your life, apply these six keys to a breakthrough on a regular basis.

Six Ways To Sow The Word

1. Receive the Word

Receiving the Word is the beginning of the sowing process! You can receive the word by reading it or listening to it. Using a Bible reading plan or devotional helps you strategically consume the word of God regularly.

2. Meditate on God’s Word

Meditation means to allow the word of God to get into your heart. This can be as simple as memorizing a verse and repeating it to yourself during the day. You can also just sit and think about the truth of God’s word and ask God to help you use that truth to understand more about Him and His ways.

3. Praise

Praise shows that you have received and believed God’s Word. Praise an outward expression of an inward transformation. Praise reveals that you believe God is who He says He is!

4. Declare God’s Word

Speak to the mountain in your life! The Bible says that if you believe and do not doubt, you can tell the mountain to jump into the sea and it will! If you want to see breakthrough in your life, speak to the things that you want to see change! Remember that you do not have to be in crisis to see this principle work. God doesn’t want you to wait to struggle to engage His Word. You can start right now!

5. Pray and Engage the Word

Tell God about the areas of your life that aren’t lining up with His word and ask Him to tell you what you need to do to see breakthrough. Remember that prayer is a conversation, so after you have presented your request to God, get a pen and paper and wait to see what He tells you. He will give you instructions on anything in your life that is not in alignment with His Word from your relationships to your job to your finances and your family.

6. Fast and Pray

Fasting and prayer are not something we do once a year; it is a regular part of being a Christian. Fasting weakens the flesh so you can better know God, hear from Him, and see him move on your behalf.

The more you engage these principles regularly, the more you will see God cause breakthrough in your life.
