Speak Your Faith

Faith Speaks!

I had a different topic for this blog but after the tragedies that unfolded last week in our country a shift came upon my spirit.

On Thursday, I was picking up my coffee after dropping my daughters off at school and I got hit with a flood of emotions. I woke up disheartened that morning as many of us did.  I always tell my daughters when I drop them off for school to be a light to others and show people the love of Christ. Honestly, that morning I did not say this to them, I just said goodbye and that I loved them.

However, as soon as I walked into Starbucks tears started to well up in my eyes and I felt a level of conviction. God corrected me on my lack of pouring into them that morning because it was due to fear and timidity.  My only thought in that moment was that the enemy wants us to sit down and be silent, he wants to put our light out so the world can grow darker.

We however, are called to override the darkness:

“You are the light of the world, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16.)

Our Faith is meant to be spoken and active:

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:17)

It is not someone else’s job to bring souls out of darkness or share the Gospel, it is yours and it is mine.  God created us in his image, and we already have the gifts we need to do his work so if you’re waiting to be “ready,” stop waiting.  We do not have to wait until we are braver, bolder, or a Bible scholar. If we wait, we will miss the opportunity to be on active duty in Heaven’s army, if you are reading this you are enlisted!

What can we do day to day?

  • Speak encouragement to someone

  • Pray with someone who is struggling

  • Praise God with someone who is coming out of a struggle.

  • Stand firm against unpopular opinion with gentleness and love.

  • Share your testimony, all of it.” Let them redeem of the Lord tell their story. (Psalm 107:2)

Now is not the time for silence. Now is the time to speak hope in the name of Jesus. Your faith spoken in love is the very thing to help someone else find their way to truth.  Last week may have left us feeling shaken, but faith is stronger than fear.

God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

We don’t shrink, we shine — let’s go!
