DISCUSSION

You must bear fruit!

Read: Matthew 7:15-20, Jeremiah 17:8, John 15:1-8

  • Jesus talked about false prophets producing bad fruit. What kind of bad teachings should we watch out for as Christians? How will we be able to tell if a teaching is true or not, based on Matthew 7:15-20?

  • How can you tell whether a person is producing good or bad fruit? With what criteria do you judge the fruit of your own life?

  • Who are we connected with if we are producing good fruit? According to John 15, what is the potential consequence of not bearing good fruit?

  • Read Galatians 5:22-26. What fruit do you find is the most easy for you to produce? With what fruit do you struggle to submit to the Holy Spirit? Why? What do you think you can do to make it easier to bear good fruit?

What choices will you make?

References: 2 Timothy 1:7, James 1:22-25

  • Think about the history of the Israelites wandering in the desert. What fruit did the lives of the Israelites produce, both good and bad?

  • Why do you think the Israelites struggled to continually follow the Lord?

  • Read 2 Timothy 1:7. How does boldness and confidence in the Lord affect our ability to produce good fruit and fulfill all that God has called us to?

  • Read James 1:22-25 What role does obedience play in helping us produce good fruit and remain connected to the Father?

  • Why do you think people struggle to stay connected with the Lord and live in constant victory?

  • Describe a time when you were not following the Lord and producing good fruit. What caused you to turn your life around?

ACT ON IT

Take a moment and get with a friend or your spouse and take an inventory of the fruit you are producing in your life. Are you producing love, patience, peace, and self control? Are you producing faith? Or are you producing fear, anxiety, anger, or laziness? Open your heart to what the Lord wants to reveal to you, ask Him what you need to do to be better connected to Him, and ask Him to help you produce good fruit this week.

BEFORE YOU CLOSE:

Read: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

When we give, we know that we are not just giving to a man or an organization, we are giving to God! And God has promised that when we give, we will receive a harvest in accordance with what was given. That means that we are in charge of our own harvest! We can give and trust God because we know that He is the one who gives us the ability to create wealth.

If the Holy Spirit has been prompting you to honor the Lord through the giving of tithes and offerings, take a moment to obey Him! Thank the Lord that as you trust your resources into your hands, He provides for all your needs in accordance with His Word! You can do so by donating on the Champion Center App or through PushPay.

PRAYER, PRAYER REQUESTS, AND TESTIMONIES

Ask Champion Group members to share any prayer requests or testimonies they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week. Take time to pray and ask if anyone would like to receive salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, or prayer for a physical need.
