DISCUSSION
Strengthen yourself in the Lord
Read: 1 Samuel 30:3-8, Isaiah 40:31
What does verse 8 tell us was causing David distress? How did David gain strength in this difficult time (see verses 7-8)?
What was the significance of David putting on an Ephod? Read Isaiah 61:3. Why do you think the Israelites were instructed to put on a garment of praise when they were grieving?
Read Isaiah 40:31. What does it mean to wait upon the Lord? Describe a time when you waited on the Lord and received strength.
On a scale of 1-10, how easy or difficult is it for you to find strength in the Lord through prayer, worship, praise, or meditating on the Word? Is it easier for you to do one of these things over the other? Why?
How do you think you know when you have found your strength in the Lord? What mentalities, attitudes, or emotions might change? How have you experienced this in your own life?
Get around the right people
References: 1 Samuel 30:9-16, 1 Corinthians 15:33
Having been strengthened in the Lord, David departed to take back what had been stolen from him. What happened to the people who were traveling with him? Why do you think people kept leaving his company?
To what standards do you hold the people around you? What character traits do you consider to be essential in order to consider someone your friend? Do you have any different qualifications for your close friends?
Why do you think it is important to get around the right people? Describe a time when the people you had in your life influenced you in either a positive or a negative way? How did you respond?
How does your knowledge of the word of God influence who you hang out with or allow to have influence in your life?
Describe a time when God brought you a friend, mentor, or influence in a time when you needed help, discipleship, or direction.
ACT ON IT
Take inventory of the people you allow to have a voice in your life. Do they encourage you to strengthen yourself in the Lord, or do they make it harder to trust Him? Ask the Lord what to do with these relationships, and ask the Lord to bring more strong, Christian friends into your life who will encourage you to pursue all that God has for you.
BEFORE YOU CLOSE:
Read: Philippians 4:15-19
Paul understood that a person’s gift isn’t just for the recipient, instead, it is an act of obedience to God that yields a blessing! Note verse 17, where he says that he doesn’t desire their gifts, he desires that they receive the blessing of God! When we give, we know that though it may feel like a sacrifice, our God will take care of us, “according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
If the Holy Spirit has been prompting you to honor the Lord through the giving of tithes and offerings, take a moment to obey Him! What can you do if you have given up on seeing God fulfill one of His Promises?
Read Joel 2:17-19. What had the Israelites done to cause God to punish them? What did they do to try to convince God to save them?
How did the pleas of the priests and Israelites compare to the reality God promised them in verses 19 and 25?
How does Romans 5:3-5 change the way that you view trials and opposition?
Describe a time when you saw restoration or the fulfillment of a promise after persevering through a time of opposition. What strengthens you during times of opposition?
ACT ON IT
Identify a promise of God that you are waiting to see fulfilled in your life. Find a way to sow into that promise this week! Ex. Find scripture to support the promise, sow an offering to the Lord, find an action step for your faith. Set your faith and believe that God has more for you!
BEFORE YOU CLOSE:
Read: Proverbs 3:5-6
When we give the tithe and the offering, we are acknowledging the Lord! Giving shows God that we understand that He is the one who gives us the ability to produce wealth (Deut. 8:8). While it is the natural thing to hold on to your money, giving shows that you are not leaning on your own understanding. As you do this, God will do what He promised and make your paths straight and fulfill every promise of blessing He has made.

DISCUSSION
Bring an Appetite
Read: 2 Peter 1:3-11, Mark 11:24
According to 2 Peter 1:3, what has God given us? Looking at the rest of the passage, what is our responsibility?
How does our level of appetite for the things of God determine where we walk?
What kinds of things do you think cause a decreased appetite for the the things of God?
How do you stay diligent in your own life to take hold of the promises God has made to you?

Describe a time when you needed to see things through the eyes of faith and how you changed your perspective.
ACT ON IT
Think about potential areas of spiritual blindness in your life, areas where you are not seeing things with the eyes of God. Ask God what could be blocking your vision. Whether it is a lack of understanding about what God has for you, the negative voice of a family member or coworker, or some other influence in your life, ask the Lord what you need to do to ensure that your eyes see clearly what God is doing in your life!
BEFORE YOU CLOSE:
Read: Malachi 3:10-12
God gives us many amazing promises for what our life will be like when we tithe in Malachi 3. However, the fulfillment of these promises relies on our obedience! We must obey God to see supernatural provision in our life and receive all that He has promised us.
If the Holy Spirit has been prompting you to access your faith in the area of tithes and offerings, take a moment to obey Him! Thank the Lord that as you trust your resources into your hands, He provides for all your needs in accordance with His Word! You can do so by donating on the Champion Center App or through PushPay.

DISCUSSION
A Supernatural God
Read: 2 Kings 7:1-17, Ephesians 3:20
In 2 Kings 7:2, how was the King viewing the words of the prophet? Through God’s eyes or human eyes?
How do you think the King was imagining that God would provide for the people (see v.2). How was that different from how God caused the miracle to happen? (see v.5-7)
How did the King’s lack of faith and understanding prevent Him from partaking in the miracle God sent the Israelites?
What does Ephesians 3:20 tells us about the way that God does things? How does having a greater understanding of the way God works, according to Eph. 3:20 affect the way we engage our faith?
Share with the group about a time when you were asking God for something, expecting Him to do it one way, and He answered your prayer in an unexpected way.
What do you find helps you to build your faith and believe God for the impossible?
Don’t Get Comfortable
References: Numbers 13:27-33, John 9:13-28
What mistakes did the Israelites make in Numbers 13:31-35?
What do you think Joshua and Caleb understood that the other Israelite spies did not understand?
In what ways were the Israelites “comfortable”? How did that inhibit their faith?
Read John 9:13-28. In what ways were the Pharisees comfortable? How did that inhibit their faith?
In what ways do you think we can become comfortable in our daily lives?
How have you seen comfortability cause stagnancy in your faith? What can you do to break yourself out of that mentality?
ACT ON IT
Spend some time in prayer this week asking God to show you areas where you are comfortable. It could be in the area of telling others about Jesus, or believing for a personal miracle in your body, finances, or relationships. Search the Word of God for verses that encourage your faith and challenge yourself to keep moving forward to see what infinitely more God has for you!
BEFORE YOU CLOSE:
Read: Matthew 14:13-21
The disciples thought that the people needed to leave the presence of Jesus to go and get what they needed. However, Jesus knew that they would be taken care of if they stayed in His presence! Jesus used what little they had to feed over 5000 people. When we put what we have in God’s hands, we can know that we will be well taken care of! Even when a situation seems difficult, when we give what we have to the Lord, he uses what we have to provide for us in a miraculous way!
