DISCUSSION
Know God
Read: 1 John 2:3-5, Matthew 26:41, Matthew 22:37-38, Luke 12:15, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 5:48-32
What does John say is the indicator of truly knowing God?
What do you think is the difference between knowing God and loving God?
What commandments did Jesus gives to his followers? (use the references above to spark discussion)
Describe an area that you struggled with when you became a Christian but you came to obey the Word of God. How did spending time with God influence your obedience?
Your Testimony
References: Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 26:1-24, Acts 7:1-53, John 4:39-42
One of Jesus’s commandments was for us to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20). How do you define the great commission? What ways can you participate in the great commission?
Consider Paul’s testimony before the King in Acts 26 and Stephen’s testimony in Acts 7:1-53. What did both of the men explain in their defenses? Why was understanding Jesus’s relationship to the Old Testament and the Law of Moses so important?
How was the testimony of the Samaritan woman in John 4 different than the testimonies of Paul and Stephen? Why do you think she shared her testimony the way she did, and why was it so effective?
What was compelling to you about the testimony shared by the person who introduced you to Jesus? Share some of the influences that caused you to become a Christian.
How would you share your testimony with someone who had never heard of God before? Would you do anything different if it was someone who had previously rejected God?
Take a moment to share your testimony with at least one other person in the room and imagine that you wanted to help them come to know God.
ACT ON IT
Now that you have practiced your testimony, use it! Find someone this week to tell about the goodness of what God has done in your life. Come ready to share next week about who you talked to and how the conversation went.
BEFORE YOU CLOSE:
Read: Genesis 14:17-24
Abraham knew that God, not Melchizedek, was his source of provision, and he knew the promises that God had made to him. Abraham honored God by reiterating that He along was the source in his life. As a result God blessed him in amazing ways. We can show God he is our source by being faithful in the tithe and giving offerings. Giving 10% to God shows Him that you know that He is the reason you can create wealth and that you trust Him to take care of you, not that extra money.
If the Holy Spirit has been prompting you to honor the Lord through the giving of tithes and offerings, take a moment to obey Him! Thank the Lord that as you trust your resources into your hands, He provides for all your needs in accordance with His Word! You can do so by donating on the Champion Center App or through PushPay.
PRAYER, PRAYER REQUESTS, AND TESTIMONIES
Ask Champion Group members to share any prayer requests or testimonies they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week. Take time to pray and ask if anyone would like to receive salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, or prayer for a physical need.
