Mythbusting: The Future is Bright
Every parent believes their kid is going to great things. When we see them succeed in a sport, we imagine them as a professional athlete. When we see them succeed at school, we imagine them as a doctor or lawyer. When we see them lead their group of friends around a playground, we see them as a future president or CEO.
Their futures are bright!
And, once we see that amazing potential, we make sure our child has every opportunity to reach that goal. We enroll them in high-quality preschool, summer sports camps, extra-curricular activities. And we do it naturally and with excitement! Parents love their kids and want do everything they can to make them successful in the future.
We believe that kids have all this amazing potential that they will one day recognize and tap into--that our future child will change the world. The myth here is that our children have to wait to tap into the fullness of what God has for them. The reality for our children is that they can be world changers right now! God’s plan for our children starts the moment they accept Him into their hearts!
At Ultra Kids, we tell your child that they are already running their race for the Lord! And God has called us to run our race well from the very beginning. All Christians are called to heal the sick and raise the dead--not just the adult Christians and not just church elders. This includes your child!
The Bible says that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you (Romans 8:11). There is no Jr. Holy Spirit that dwells in kids! They have access to same Holy Spirit you, your friends, and pastors have! So, it is our responsibility to train our children to access that Holy Spirit!
Can you imagine what your life would be like if you had understood that you had full access to the Holy Spirit from the moment you were saved? How many friends would you have prayed for? How much more boldly would you have shared the Gospel?
Pastor Nathan recently said your ceiling should become the floor on which your child starts. This means you should do everything you can to make sure your child doesn’t have to fight the same battles you did. Instead, they can take what you have learned and experienced and go even further. Each generation receives a greater revelation from the Lord!
For example, maybe you had to fight to believe for healing when you first got saved. Let your faith be your child’s floor! No matter how old your child is, they are capable of understanding the fullness of who God is! If they can see other people healed and grow their faith at a young age, you won’t be waiting on them to be world changers, they will be world changers!
Your job is to present to them the Word of God and speak it in faith over them. Don’t put limits on what your child can or cannot understand spiritually. God is the one who opens our minds to understand His Word, and it is His responsibility to give us understanding.
“The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” - Psalm 119:130
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” 1 Corinthians 2:10
It may be difficult to think of your five-year old--the same kid who still occasionally throws tantrums and will argue for hours over whether or not she has to eat her broccoli--as capable of seeing others healed, but there are countless testimonies of children putting their faith in action!
There are reports of children under the age of 10 doing everything from seeing headaches go to paralysis reversed! The best way to grow your child’s faith is to help them put it in action! Insight doesn’t come from age, it comes from relationship with God!
I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Your precepts. - Psalm 119:99-100
When you hear about the things God has for you, it builds your faith. But when your child hears testimonies of God’s Word in action, it builds their faith even more. But observing God’s precepts--observing God’s commands and faithfulness for yourself--is the greatest way to gain understanding and faith!
So this week, find some way that you can stir up your child’s faith. Invite them to pray with you in faith over a family member or friend. Spend time teaching them scripture in the car. Worship with them. Whatever you do, do it with the full expectation that your child can and will operate at great levels of faith at a young age.
You will soon start to see your child raising their hands to worship Jesus. You will see the character of God come out of them as they pray for each other with simple faith. And you will see them speak with boldness and power.
We are constantly praying and expecting God to move among the kids of CCC. The future is bright but so is the present! So take off the barriers. Believe that even this year they will pray and see someone healed!
Commit yourself to seeing your child launch forward in faith and see the good that God has planned for their life come forth now, in Jesus’ name!
