Allies To Our Overcoming

Storms have a way of moving, shifting, or dragging things around that would not move much under any other circumstances. For example dirt, gravel, etc. We may notice these small things. They aren’t enough though to get us talking or concerned. When we see big things floating in the storm, now that’s a different response and feeling! Trees, cars, and bridges catch our attention and get us talking!

A storm is defined as - an uproar, a violent disturbance of the atmosphere.

We have all experienced a physical storm. They can be scary, not too many are excited for them and most of us can’t wait for them to be over. I could probably guess all of us feel this way about going through spiritual storms as well. Spiritual storms can also be identified as an uproar or violent disturbance of the atmosphere. The difference is it’s not just the world’s atmosphere that is disrupted, it’s your peace as well.

In our “life storms,” it’s uncomfortable. It may be pouring rain, but I’m so glad God is our umbrella! Romans 8:28 speaks on the fact that God uses everything that happens in our lives for our good and His glory.  God will use our storms to move, shift, and drag away some big things in our lives. These big things will grab the attention of unbelievers watching your storm. Can you believe that most of what you're going through is still being used to evangelize!? Your storm may carry a seed or be watering a seed. Hallelujah! The kingdom gets the increase. Those big things moved, shifted, or dragged away in our storm get us talking and testifying to the goodness of God.

Revelation 12:11 says, “We overcome by the blood of the lamb & the word of our testimony.” Just like that the rain that came to wash us out, becomes an ally to our overcoming.
