God's Spirit in Action

There is nothing like watching God's Spirit being poured out on people and seeing the life change that follows.

If we fail to see miracles, then we are not preaching the same Gospel! In Romans 15:19, Paul spoke about how miracles followed the preaching of the Gospel—

"They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum."

If we are going to see a generation of people changed and whole nations turned it will be because we have chosen to once again fully present the Good News! In other words, a gospel void of miracles, signs, and wonders is not the same message that the church of Acts preached!

If you're not seeing the supernatural power of God in your life, chances are that you have settled for religion. Paul actually warned Timothy that this would happen. He said in the last days people would have a form of godliness but deny the power of God working in their lives (2 Timothy 3:5). The disciples only knew a Gospel that brought results. In Mark 16:20 the Bible says,

"And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs."

There must be a demonstration of the Spirit's power to back the preaching of the Word!

If there is no confirmation of the Word, we are simply relying on the wise and persuasive words presented by men. Paul refused to just have a nice talk about God with those he ministered to. Paul addressed this in 2 Cor. 2:4 when he said,

"My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power."

Let these scriptures stir your heart today to run your race with greater focus and determination to see God's power flow through your life so that a generation will be shaken by the power of God!
